Security Officer Manager

About the role

The Security Officer Manager is responsible for overseeing all security and policing functions on Ascension Island under the authority of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the Bahamas Agreement. This position ensures the safety of personnel, assets, and visitors while maintaining compliance with U.S. and UK regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Exercise authority granted by the Bahamas Agreement to detain, search, and transfer civilians to appropriate authorities.
• Manage access control for all contractor‑permitted personnel in accordance with DAFI 31‑101.
• Oversee restricted‑area security duties, document checks, and system access.
• Maintain and update the Installation Security Operating Instruction.
• Run a comprehensive Security Officer Training program and conduct standardization evaluations (DAFI 36‑2646).
• Prepare and submit monthly CDLR reports and other required documentation.
• Review incident reports, property loss, theft, and ensure rapid response to alarms and suspicious activity.
• Conduct initial investigations of crimes, incidents, and accidents and report them per the Security Incident Notification Matrix.
• Develop and maintain the Security Incident Notification Matrix and a Priority Response Matrix capable of handling multiple simultaneous events.
• Provide escort services for contractors, vendors, emergency personnel, and distinguished visitors.
• Coordinate with Det 2 CC, local police, fire officials, and other agencies for emergency response.
• Supervise security screening of aircraft passengers and luggage and report violations.

Required profile

• Authority under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and the Bahamas Agreement.
• Experience managing security operations and access‑control processes.
• Familiarity with DAFI 31‑101 and DAFI 36‑2646 regulations.
• Proven ability to develop training programs and incident‑response matrices.
• Capability to work closely with military, government, and local law‑enforcement agencies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of UCMJ and Title 18 USC legal frameworks.
• Understanding of DAFI 31‑101 access‑control procedures.
• Experience with DAFI 36‑2646 security training standards.
