Firefighter Driver Operator (ARFF)

About the role

V2X is seeking a qualified Firefighter Driver Operator to join its full‑service fire department on Ascension Island. The role supports an ICAO Category 8 airfield, providing both airport rescue fire fighting (ARFF) and structural fire response on a 48‑hour on / 48‑hour off rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Drive and operate fire‑fighting vehicles, including pumpers, water tankers and specialised ARFF apparatus.
• Navigate to incident scenes, positioning vehicles based on wind, water sources and hazards.
• Operate pumps, foam generators, boom and ground‑sweep nozzles, and other fire‑suppression equipment.
• Perform crash‑rescue and fire‑fighting duties for large military and civilian aircraft.
• Standby during aircraft refuelling, engine testing, welding, ammunition handling and other high‑risk activities.
• Direct water streams to cool weapons, ammunition and aircraft structures.
• Maintain and service fire‑fighting equipment and vehicles.

Required profile

• Ability to work in a remote, multicultural environment with 24/7 readiness.
• Physical fitness to meet the demands of fire‑fighting and rescue operations.
• Willingness to work scheduled 48‑hour shifts, including overtime when required.
