Paramedic (NREMT) – Advanced Life Support

About the role

The NREMT Paramedic provides Advanced Life Support (ALS) and emergency medical response for the Ascension Island medical clinic and the Ascension Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF) under the V2X program. This position ensures 24/7 readiness in a remote, austere environment, supporting U.S. military personnel, contractors, civilians, and authorized individuals.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ALS emergency medical response, assessment, stabilization, treatment, and transport for authorized personnel.
• Respond to medical incidents throughout AAAF‑controlled areas and operate ambulances and related equipment safely.
• Provide trauma care, airway management, cardiac care, medication administration, and emergency stabilization within scope of practice.
• Coordinate patient transfers, support MEDEVAC operations, and maintain after‑hours readiness.
• Support clinic operations, document patient care, and maintain medical equipment, supplies, and vehicles.
• Participate in mass‑casualty planning, emergency preparedness exercises, and contingency medical operations.
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, firefighters, external agencies, and medical leadership during emergencies.
• Maintain required certifications, continuing education, and compliance with DoD, Air Force, and EMS protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Paramedic program.
• At least two years of recent experience (within the past three years) working as a Paramedic.
• Current NREMT certification and ability to maintain required competencies and training.
• Willingness to work in a remote, austere environment and be on‑call for after‑hours emergencies.
