About the role
The Assistant Chief of Operations & Training will be based on Ascension Island supporting the Air Force Civil Engineer Center fire protection mission. The role provides day‑to‑day guidance, coordination and oversight of fire protection activities, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant operations.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, organize and supervise daily fire protection work, including emergency response and fire investigations.
- Monitor the Fire Control Center and ensure timely reporting of incidents.
- Develop, schedule, track and document training programs in accordance with DoD, AFI 32‑2001 and Air Force Fire & Emergency Services Training Program (FESTP).
- Maintain required reports, inspections, plans and documentation as defined in the performance work statement.
- Enforce quality, safety and environmental standards (V2X, OSHA, US Air Force).
- Safeguard government and contractor property and ensure a clean, professional work environment.
- Accurately record time and complete timesheets.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree in fire safety or related field preferred.
- Experience in fire protection operations, emergency response and training coordination.
- Ability to work collaboratively with firefighters, support personnel and senior leadership.
- Understanding of DoD fire certification requirements and Air Force regulations.
Required skills
- Fire safety and emergency services knowledge.
- Training program development and documentation.
- Compliance with AFI 32‑2001, DoDM 6055.06 and related standards.
