AI Engineer (Backend) – Accelerate Development with AI

About the role

Deel is seeking a Backend AI Engineer to help accelerate feature development using AI tools. In this role you will build scalable, production‑grade backend services for our global payroll and HR platform, leveraging AI as a co‑pilot while maintaining strong engineering fundamentals.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, designers, and QA to define requirements and deliver seamless experiences.
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude to generate code, handle boilerplate, and create scaffolding.
• Review and refine AI‑generated code to ensure quality, reliability, and security.
• Ship robust backend solutions at Deel speed, supporting users in 150+ countries.
• Maintain and improve existing services to meet performance and scalability goals.

Required profile

• Strong engineering fundamentals and experience building backend services.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced SaaS environment.
• Ability to effectively use AI tools as a development co‑pilot.
• Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.
