SATCOM Technician - Ascension Island

About the role

Amentum is seeking a SATCOM Technician for Ascension Island to support the Space Force Range contract (SFRC). The role covers operating, maintaining and troubleshooting satellite communication systems in line with MET training standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot satellite communication systems in line with MET training standards.
• Carry out routine and emergency SATCOM maintenance, including RF subsystems, antenna systems and power distribution units.
• Perform AFWET diagnostic procedures and testing on wideband SATCOM terminals and associated equipment.
• Monitor system performance, detect anomalies and implement corrective actions to keep communications running.
• Maintain accurate technical records, logs and reports according to Space Force protocols.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior personnel and cross-functional teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• AS degree in Electronic Technology, or two-year technical school, equivalent military experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience and proficiency with DSCS/AFWET/WGS SATCOM earth terminal equipment and operations.
• Army MET certification preferred; familiarity with military communication protocols, encryption and cybersecurity standards preferred.
• Previous deployment or assignment in austere or forward-operating locations preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
• Valid U.S. driver's license and a valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to drive a manual transmission, frequently move and position equipment up to 50 pounds, and work occasional non-duty hours or weekends.
